The first major mission of the Church. Joseph Smith called Oliver Cowdery to lead a small group of missionaries to preach to the Native American tribes located just west of Missouri. On their way these missionaries preached in Ohio baptizing 130 new members. They also preached to the Wyandot tribe (Sandusky, Ohio).
Initially they preached to the Shawnee tribe, but soon expanded to the more receptive Delaware tribe. The mission ended when government officials prohibited proselytizing among the Indian tribes.
