The Palestine-Syrian Mission was a continuation of the Armenian Mission (1921-1928) which was continuation of the Turkish Mission (1884-1909). The newly reopened and renamed mission started in 1933. Proselyting work was difficult as religious tensions amongst the population were intensifying. The mission was closed in 1939 with the onset of WWII. Two branches were left open though in Beirut and Aleppo. There were also some members living in Damascus and Jerusalem.
