Elam Luddington, Levi Savage Jr., Chauncey W. West, and Benjamin F. Dewey were called at a special conference held 28 and 29 August 1852 to serve in China, Siam, Australia, and India. Of the four men called to Siam, only Elam Luddington actually served in the country. The others spent several months laboring in India and Burma before returning home. Elder Luddington served four months in Bangkok before leaving for Hong Kong and then back to California. He arrived home in Utah in 1855.
