The First Presidency directed Elder David Evans of Lehi to lead a group of missionaries to the Indians that inhabited the lands near the White Mountains in present-day Great Basin National Park, Nevada west of Fillmore, Utah. A portion of the men were sent to the Beaver River Valley to establish farms. The Mission was never fully established but provided the explorations that resulted in the settlement of Beaver, Utah.
