Pacific Mission

Organized December 1946 by the First Presidency. The Pacific Mission was created as an administrative unit over the missions of the Pacific.

After World War II the Church began reopening closed missions in the region. Missions reopened or where missionaries were sent included: Hawaii, Tonga, Samoa, New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, Japan, and the Philippines. Elder Matthew Cowley was called as the first Mission President.
