In 1866, Arza was sent with a team from Utah to meet the incoming companies and ensure they reach the Salt Lake Valley. His documents and journals confirmed he led a group that was separate from the other organized companies. In his records, he makes mention of other 1866 companies such as the Lowry and Nebeker companies.

More research is needed to determine which men accompanied him from Utah and aided his efforts to help the last of the companies for that year safely reach Salt Lake City.
