There were two parts to this train, one an ox train led by Horton D. Haight and the other a mule train led by John Y. Greene. When it left Florence, there were a few Mormon emigrants in both the ox and mule divisions of the company. Although they started together, the faster mule company beat the slower ox company to Salt Lake by about a week.
