About 245 individuals were in the company when it began its journey from the outfitting post at Wyoming, Nebraska (the west bank of the Missouri River about 40 miles south of Omaha.)  A small contingent of this company under the leadership if Elder Charles B. Taylor, a returning missionary, arrived in Salt Lake City on October 31.  Other members of the company arrived on the 8th of November and the remainder arrived the next day, on the 9th.
