About 62 wagons were in the company when it began its journey from the outfitting post at Wyoming, Nebraska (the west bank of the Missouri River about 40 miles south of Omaha). There were also 13 teamsters recorded as part of the William Hyde company. According to John T. Gerber's journal, a few independent families joined the company along the trail.
Members of the company arrived in the Salt Lake Valley from 26-30 October 1864. According to the Salt Lake Daily Telegraph, the company arrived with 60 wagons.
