The First Seven Presidents in the First Council of the Seventy functioned in the same way the Presidency of the Seventy does today. Based on revelation received in D&C 107:93-94 which states "And it is according to the vision showing the order of the Seventy, that they should have seven presidents to preside over them, chosen out of the number of the seventy, and the seventy president of these presidents is to preside over the six". The First Seven Presidents as a calling designation was retired in October 1976 when the First Council of Seventy was officially disbanded and members of the First Council of the Seventy were re-called into the First Quorum of the Seventy. It was at this time that the First Seven Presidents was disbanded and members were re-called as Presidents in the Presidency of the Seventy.
