Seventy in the First Council of the Seventy

The Seventy position is established in Doctrine and Covenants 107:95-97 "And these seven presidents are to choose other seventy besides the first seventy to whom they belong. . .and these seventy are to be traveling ministers, unto the Gentiles first and also unto the Jews." Over time, and after considerable growth in the Church (both in individual members, as well as where members were geographically located), the organization of First Council of the Seventy was disbanded and subsequently re-established as the First Quorum of the Seventy, however the ultimate responsibility of a Seventy has remained the same since the revelation in D&C 107 was given.
