When I started on the plains, I started with an ox team, which I drove all the way to Salt Lake City, feel thankful for the experience I gained while crossing the plains. I almost forget to state that I was married before reaching Salt Lake City. I was married at Fort Larimeby [Laramie], our chaplin by the name of Roston. We arrived in Salt Lake City on the 12 October, 1853. We was led to the Public Square where we camped for several days . . . .
