Transcript for A History of Daniel Berry Rawson in Rawson family histories, circa 1950, 13

In the spring of 1849 I bought me a team and wagon and fitted up for crossing the plains. With the exceptions of a very severe snow storm which lasted 46 hours and caught us on the water near the last crossing. With a heavy wind blowing, some places the snow drifted as high as our wagon. Several wagons had to be dug out of the snow drifts. Several head of cattle perished, but through the blessings of the Lord there were enough teams to move the train on to Salt Lake.

We arrived the last of Oct. 1849.
