On the 10th of August 1855 I left for Salt Lake City as a teamster in Hoopers and Williams train.
<p xmlns:its="http://www.w3.org/2005/11/its" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">While crossing the plaines, I was run over by a wagon loaded with 4600 pounds of freight.  It passed over both legs, but did not break them, but I was not able to walk or drive for 8 days.  The snow was so deep we had to leave our teams at Fort Pondager [Bridger] </p>
<p xmlns:its="http://www.w3.org/2005/11/its" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">and arrived in Salt Lake City, November 15th 1855.</p>
