It being Sunday we weren't allowed to land until next day, the 12th of Oct. The next morning we started in wagons, for San Bernardino, where we arrived on the 16th of Oct.

We left San Bernardino the 1st of Jan. 1858. in company with We left with George Hanks. We had two yoak of Oxen & two span of horses on our wagon. We traveled about seven mile when our wagon broke & George Hanks went on a horse, back to San Bernardino for extras. to fix it with. he got back <the> next morning.

In two or three days we came to the Cahoon hill. There were about eight wagons there ready to go up the hill. It took the rest of that day to get to the top of the hill, only one wagon could go up at a time.

Our next camping place was on the Mohoby [Mojave] river, we were there two weeks waiting for company. Our company was made up on the Mohoby river. There being about 18 wagons with captain Tinny to guide us.

After leaving the river we crossed to the Mohoby desert.

Our next watering place was the bitter springs. & from there to the Kingston springs. Then we came to Los Vegas Nev. There was being a fourt there which the mormons had built. We stayed there about two weeks.

From there we passed through a canyon & crossed the 55 mile desert, <went> through another canyon & on to the muddy river. Then <we came> to the virgin river. We crossed the virgin river 27 times. in a day or two we came to the Santa Clara river. The next place I we came to was the mountain meadows. The first settlement we came to was painter creek. from there, we had a mountain to climb. We camped making our camp on top the mountain. There were some explorers camped there. Among them was Marion Lyman.

After a couple of days travel we arrived at Cedars fourt. We came from there to Parowan where we stayed a day or so. And our next stopping place was at Paragonah where I arrived Apr. 6th, 1858. And here I have been ever since.
