The following spring the company started across the plains by ox team for Utah. This was in 1852. There were fifty wagons in the company, later dividing in companies of ten wagons each. Our company was presided over by John S. Higby. We arrived in Salt Lake City, August 13th, 1852. My youngest sister and my only brother, James, came with David Love and family and I, Janet Hunter, came with Adam Hunter and family, who later made their home in the Eleventh Ward, Salt Lake City.
