The next morning we were removed by ox teams about three miles from the river to what was known as Mormon Grove. We camped there for some time, making preparations for the crossing of the plains.

A company was organized consisting of 3 divisions a captian [captain] was appointed over each division. I was appointed as one of the captains. the company was under the leadership of Charles Harper. We left camp on the 20th day of July and commenced our long and tedious journey accros the plains for Utah. we arrived in Salt Lake City on the 28th day of October.
