One of Provo's oldest residents, Mrs. Katherine Martha Bowen, 97, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah J. Arrowsmith, 63 North Sixth East street. She was the wife of the late Albert H. Bowen, first sheriff of Utah county. Mrs. Bowen was born April 14, 1832, in Jackson county, Ohio. Her parents moved to Nauvoo, Ill., where she joined the church. She came to Utah in 1861, settling in Davis county, but shortly after moved to Provo where she had since resided. She had always taken and active part in the affairs of the church. Surviving are three daughters and two sons as follows: Mrs. Arrowsmith, Provo; Mrs. Julia Smith, Fort Duchesne, Utah; Mrs. Lettie Nold, Monrovia, Calif.; William P. Bowen, Payson; Albert H. Bowen, Provo. 23 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 12:30 o'clock in the Fifth ward chapel with Bishop C. Y. Cannon in charge. Friends may view the body at the Arrowsmith residence prior to the services. Interment will be in the Provo city cemetery.
