DIED At Panaca, Feb 3rd, ASAPH RICE, Born Jan. 13, 1817, in Ontario Co., New York. Patriarchally blessed by Patriarch John Smith, Nauvoo, Jan 12, 1846. Emigrated to Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Lived in Salt Lake City about three years. In April, 1850, married Sister Louisa Caulks. Settled at North Ogden. Afterward moved to Farmington. Volunteered at the settlement of Cache Valley and settled in Providence. October 22, 1866, was called on a mission to the Southern country and settled at the Beaverdams. At the breaking up of that settlement moved to West Point, on the Muddy. At the breaking up of that settlement moved to Panaca. At the Muddy took chills and fever, which, with other diseases, terminated his life. Was a member of the Thirteenth Quorum of Seventies, and a faithful Saint to the last. He leaves a numerous family. The funeral ceremonies, Feb. 4th, were largely attended. --[COM
