Transcript for George Halliday diary and reminiscences, 1845-1898, 143

We crossed the plains in Warren Snow’s Company. When I left Salt Lake City to go on this mission, I was told to take a suite of Temple Clothes with me, but what for I did not know, as I did not need them in England. But on my return I learned why I had them, for on the 26th of September 1864, John Kay died, and I used my Temple Clothes to dress him and we burried him on the Little Laramie.

I arrived in Salt Lake City in October 1864, and my children had all grown so much I did not know any of them.
