Sunday the 18 laid in camp all day & organized the company & Joseph Horn[e] Capt of the company. James Curl [Carl] Capt of the Knight hurders. A H. Hale Capt of the Comp Gard. [-]. Edwin [Edward] Bird [as] Chaplin.
Monday the 19 roled on[.] camped in Parleys park
Tuesday 20 roled on 2 miles & camped at Wm Kimbles
Wednesday 21 roled on over to Weaber [Weber] & camped
Thursday the 22 Roled on down the Weaber 12 miles & camped,
Friday the 23 roled on up echo 4 miles & camped
Saturday 24 roled on up to the top of Echo & camped
Sunday 25 roled on over to yelow crick & camped
Monday 26 roled on over to Bair [Bear] river & Camped
Tuesday 27 roled on over to the big muddy & Camped

Thursday the 24 went to visit the differant camps & rode out with the girls & did adance [had a dance] at night, we also moved camp, abot 3000 yds,

Sunday the 27 in the fore noon had a meeting[.] Bros Lyman & Ritch preached in the after noon[.] roled out 5 miles & camped
Monday the 28 roled on 13 miles & camped on the horne river
Tuesday the 29 burried 1 girl age 17 years, then roled on 14 miles & camped with[in] 2 miles of the plat[te] & burried a boy aged 12 years
Wednesday the 30 roled on 19 miles & camped on the plat
Thursday the 31 roled on 6 miles & nooned on the shell creek then roled on 9 miles & camped
Friday the 1st day of August[.] roled on 12 miles & camped on Luke [Loup] Fork
Saturday the 2 ferried the Luke fork & roled on 7 miles & camped on the plat
Sunday the 3 roled on 17 miles & camped on the plat at Bakers ranch,
Monday the 4 roled on 18½ miles & camped on the plat at the lone tree
Tuesday the 5 roled on 17 miles & camped on the plat,

Saturday the 9 burried 1 child, roled on 14 miles & crosed Elm Crick [Creek]2½ miles camped on a slue [slough]

Monday the 11 roled on 19 miles & camped on the plat,
Tuesday the 12 roled on 10 miles & nooned on the plat & burried 1 child 9 years old, thence 6½ miles & camped on the plat
Wednesday the 13 roled on 9 miles to Skunk creek thence 6 miles to Pawnee Spring & camped
Thursday the 14 roled 17 miles & camped on the plat,
Friday the 15 roled on 10 miles to the north fork & laid by the afternoon & night

Sunday the 17 roled on 15 to some springs & camped,
Monday the 18 roled on 3½ miles & crosed rattlesnake crick & thence 13 miles to camp crick & camped,
Tuesday the 19 roled on 6 miles to Wolf creek thence 8 miles & camped on the plat,
Wednesday the 20 roled on 18 miles & camped on the plat, the 20ith we burried 1 girl, age 27 yrs
Thursday the 21 roled on 17 miles & camped on the plat
Friday the 22 roled on 17 miles & camped on the plat[.] I was sick all day

Friday the 29 roled on 17 miles & camped on biter cotonwood crick [Bitter Cottonwood Creek]
Saturday the 30 roled on 15 miles & camped on Horseshoe crick,
Sunday the 31 roled on 2 miles to a small brook[.] not very good catter [water.] thence 9 miles to a brook & old station[.] very little watter & nooned[.] thence 7 miles to a little spring crick & camped[.] good grass wood & watter[.] we had a good dance last night at the station in the haus[.] the mail is moved & the station are broken up.
[September] Monday the 1 roled on 10 miles & nooned at a crick[.] thence 5 miles to a little crick & camped[.] a very little water
Tuesday the 2 roled on 15 miles & camped for night,
Wednesday the 2 roled on 6 miles to a nice crick[.] plenty of watter & nooned[.] thence 14 miles to dear crick [Deer Creek] & camped, loaded in our flour in the morning
Thursday the 4 very stormy all day, roled on 4 miles & camped on the plat, we burried 1 girl this morning at deercrick [Deer Creek]
Friday the 5 roled on 9 miles & nooned on the plat thence 11 miles & camped 2½ miles below the uper plat bridge,
Saturday the 6 Joseph pased us this morning[.] I recieved a letter from home & wrote one home[.] we roled 5 miles above the bridge & nooned on the plat, we buried a child this morning thence 6 miles & camped on the plat for the last time
Sunday the 7 roled on 15 miles & nooned at the willow spring then 6 miles & camped on greesewed crick [Greasewood Creek]
Monday the 8 roled on 8 miles & camped on little horseshoe crick [Horseshoe Creek], had bad luck in getting our cattle this morning
Tuesday the 9 roled on 10 miles & nooned 1 mile below the independance rock [Independence Rock] thence 6 miles a little above the Devils gate
Wednesday the 10 roled on 18 miles & camped on the Sweetwatter [Sweetwater]
Thursday the 11 roled on 13 miles & camped on the sweetwatter
Friday the 12 roled on 23 miles & camped on the sweetwater
Saturday the 13 roled on 8 miles to rockeyridg [Rocky Ridge] station & got our flour[.] thence 5 miles up on the ridge & camped & chaned up our cattle[.] it was a very stormy night
Sunday the 14 hitched up at day brake & roled on 7 miles to Strawber[r]y crick & took our breakfast & burried a man[.] thence 12 miles the last crossing of the sweetwatter & camped in a snow storm,
Monday the 15 roled on 14 miles over the south pass & down to the parsific [Pacific] spring[s] crick crosing & camped
Tuesday the 16 burried 1 woman then roled on 10 miles to dry sandy & camped
Wednesday the 17 roled on 14 miles & camped on little sandy
Thursday the 18 roled on 16 miles & camped on big sandy
Friday the 19 roled on 16 miles & camped on big sandy 2½ miles from green river,
Saturday the 20 roled on & crosed Greene river [Green River] thence 14 miles & made a dry camp
Sunday the 21 roled on 6 miles to Ham[']s fork & camped, we burried 1 woman & 1 girl this morning
Monday the 22 burried 1 woman then roled on 16 miles & camped on black[s] fork
Tuesday the 23 roled on 13 miles & camped 2 miles below Bridger
Wednesday the 24 roled on 15 miles & camped on the mud[d]y
Thursday the 25 roled on 18 miles & camped on the sulpher crick [Sulphur Creek]
Friday the 26 roled on 2 miles & crosed bear river thence 14 miles & camped at cash cave [Cache Cave]
Saturday the 27 roled on down echo 22 miles & camped within 1 mile of the mouth[.] burried 1 woman in echo
Sunday the 28 roled on 14½ miles & camped in Silvercrick [Silver Creek]
Monday the 29 roled on 7 miles to Wm. Cimbolds [Kimball’s] by noon & the camp are setling
Tuesday the 30 Fimnikes settling then roled on 13 miles & camped at L Harys
Wednesday the 1 of Oct roled on 14 miles in to G S L City.
Thursday the 2 went home to Grants Ville [Grantsville]
Friday the 3 the teams arrived at home
[Hale's handwritten journal in the Church Archives also includes a typescript copy. The typescript copy contains the following note: ". . . .The lists which follow are evidently all a part of the company but may not necessarily list all who were in the company. As Alma H. Hale was in charge of the commissary these lists and the markings must have to do with the distribution of supplies to members of the company. . . . The first list follows the above part of the journal and the others all start in the back of the note book and come forward till they meet the others.”
