My father [Robert Henderson] bought two yoke of oxen and a new shutter wagon, and we crossed the plains in Captain Horton [D.] Haight's Company, being eight weeks on the trip.  Myself a boy of twelve years old and driving a team where the roads were good for one of the teamsters who wen[t] hunting.  
<p xmlns:its="http://www.w3.org/2005/11/its" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">We arrived in Salt Lake City at conference time, the 6th day of October, 1863. </p>
