March 31st Today we arrived here at William's Ranch and from here we visited Los Angeles City at which place and here, we purchased our fit-out animals[,] provisions &c.

And on the 12th of April, 1848 we commenced our journey across the plains for Great Salt Lake. 25 Souls in the company Porter Rockwell for our guide. We have one waggon in the company & 136 mules & horses. We had a long and arduous journey but nothing of any note transpired on the trip[.] we arrived at the old Fort Salt Lake Valley on the 5th of June 1848 all safe & well, bringing through with us the first waggon that ever passed that rout[e].
