Sent to Iceland with Haflidason Thorason. Both were young men. They had spent time in Denmark learning trades.Thorason was a cabinet-maker and Gudmunson was a jeweler. Brother Thorasson was ordained a Priest by Brother Snow at a Priesthood meeting held in Copenhagen, March 10, 1851 and at a fast meeting held April 18, 1851, Brother Gudmundson was ordained a Teacher by Elder Snow. Following instruction by Elder Snow the two returned to their native Iceland to preach to their countrymen. After baptizing two they were prohibited from preaching and were confined to instructions in private. Thorason accidentally drowned while out fishing in December 1851. Elder Snow regretted not ordaining Gudmundson an elder as he had been prompted.
