1857-the 18 of aprill I emagrated to utah.

Was 5 weeks on the Atlantik [Atlantic] Oacian [Ocean] landet [landed] by Philadelfa [Philadelphia] traveld by Raill 200 mils. I poold <puled> the Handcart from Iaway [Iowa] to Florenc[e] <Nebraska> that was 300 mil[e]s. I poold the Handcart evry day. There I met my Brother & He let me go with Him. But had to walk all the way. He had an Ox team. I was sick from Florenc[e] to Fort Larmy <Laramie>. My Brothers wife was sick in bead [bed] & me & her Sister <Hedevig> had Chaince [chance] about to pake [pack] her babby all the way. She [the infant] livs at Elsinoare [Ellsinore] is a mother of many Children her Name is Sorina Jensen. We crost manny streams of watter. Plat[te] river we crost manny times. The Solgers [soldiers] of Jhonstens [Johnston’s] army on the one side of Plat river & we on the other. We had to travel from 30 to 35 mils per day on acound of the Solgers it was prity toft [tough] & meeting with Indiens [Indians] & Boffalos [Buffalo] & many other wild annamals. We landet in Salt lak[e] City September 15-1857.
