we did not know but we should have to stay still longer in winter quarters[.] but trusting in the lord our god and holding on to faith in him our way opened for us to go to the valleys of the mountains. We started from winter quarters seventeenth of June 1847 being in pisgah and winters quarters one year and a great deal of the time was verry sick. we started from thence to go to the valley with father oakley family a resident of nauvoo. he put me in charge of a team which was consisting of too yokes of cattle and a waggon with all the provisions for his family and us also. we had a pleasent Journey all through the trip to the valley of the great salt lake. we landed in the valley the second day of october 1847
