Willard Richards and Charles C. Rich visited at Heber C. Kimball's in the afternoon to converse on California matters. . . . On their journey from California to Utah, the brethren had been dogged by the Indians for a distance of over four hundred miles. They had found the bodies of Hyrum Gates's two sons with throat cut by Indians. Many emigrants had also been killed by the Indians.
