Transcript for Knight, Effie Adelia Phippen, "History of Mary Jane Brim"

Mother has told me . . . . When the time came to cross the plains to Zion the Brim and Phippen families journeyed in the same co. Some became dissatisfied with the slow progress they were making and grandfather Phippen was chosen to lead part of the Co. Mothers two brothers were stricken with smallpox so had to drop out of the train until all danger of contagion was past. They only had their camp wagon but none of the rest of the family came down with the disease.
