1852 paid my debts incured by Sickness and paid Henry Bowden $40.00, My Wifes passage from England and in April arrainged with him to cross the plains in company[.] I furnished a team two yoke of oxen[.] He found wagon and one Cow[.] I also furnished myself with clothing and provisions necessary for the trip[,] a journey of 1400 miles. on the 22nd of April joined him in St. Louis and on the 26th[.] put one wagon and Team on Steam Boat and took passage for Churchvill[e,] Missouri arrived on the 28th[.] traveled to Council Bluffs over 100 miles in one Month without serious accidents[;] rested about a week[.] [In] june a company of 54 wagons was Organized appointing a Captain of each Ten. I was chosen one of these captains and a man by the name of Outhouse was chosen captain of Fifty[.] the Indians were troublesome but did not effect us seriously[.] captain Outhouse left the Company with ten wagons and each Ten traveled alone to the Valley arriving in Salt Lake on the 6th day of September.
