EMIGRANTS.—On Sunday morning last, on invitation, Elders Wilford Woodruff, George A. Smith, Lorenzo Snow and Franklin D. Richards, and Dr. Levi Richards, went out to visit Capt. James D. Ross' waggon company, who were encamped in Emigration Kanyon [Canyon]. The elders were warmly welcomed, and at one o'clock held a meeting. The Swiss emigrants were addressed by Elder G. A. Smith, Elder Daniel Bonelli acting as interpreter. The other emigrants were then addressed by Elder Smith. Elder Snow, Dr. Richards and Elder F. D. Richards. The instructions were of a highly practical nature and were listened to with the liveliest interest by the emigrants, who were from almost every European country. The company were in excellent spirits, and looked very well indeed after their journey. They entertain high respect for Capt. Ross, and give him a most excellent character. The company arrived on the camp ground in this city between twelve and one o'clock on Monday, the 3rd inst. They have had very little sickness. One death is reported; it resulted from eating unwholesome meat.
