16 Feb. 1881 John W. Gibson & Henry Bartholomew to Historian’s Office Report of Mission. Slaterville, Weber Co. Utah, Feb. 16, 1881 Sec. Historian Office, Salt Lake City, Utah, Dear Brother, - In compliaenance with instruc tions received from Pres. John Morgan, we cheerful- ly proceed to drop you a few lines, giving date of our departure to, and return from our mission in the Southern States. We left home on the 17th of June 1879, and returned on the 31st of January 1881, hav- ing been absent 19 months and 14 days, most of which time we were laboring assid- uously, in the norther por- tions of Miss. and Ala. promulgating the principles of the Gospel, and striving to advance the cause of Truth, and we feel that our humble efforts were accepted of God. We were frequently called on to administer to the sick, and on each occasion had the gratifying pleasure of having our petitions heard and answered, for which we feel very thankful to our Heavenly Father. Ever praying for the welfare of Zion, we remain your Brethren in the Gospel of Christ, John W. Gibson North Ogden, Utah. and Henry Bartholomew, Slaterville, Utah.
