[Joseph Coe] [N K Whitney] [Returns 1832] [1931-1832] Returned from Missouri Sept 1st 4 Lords day Spake to the Ch.in Kirtland in the forenoon baptized 2 brake bread to the Ch. 9th left Kirtland for North –ampton 10 came to Northampton found the Ch. in health, sent an appoint- ment to the town of Stow for tomorrow baptised 2 Lords day 11th preached in Stow, by request made an appointment for next Lords day in upper Stow. Returned to the Ch. in Northampton at evening, breake bread to the Ch, laid hands on 4 Children confirmed 2 sisters which were baptized yesterday and ordained Br Eden. Smith to be a Priest. At this meeting the power of God was manifested by the effusion of the Holy Ghost and ministering of angels. 12th preached in tallmage 13th baptized & confirmed one & went to Union, preached in the morning, Some gladly received the word but Satan transformed himself nigh unto an angel of light and withstood, (?). 14 returned to Northampton 15 preached in the town of Portage, people listened with attention 16 Preached in the town of Copley, many some have gladly recd. The word, but would not submit to the book of mormon 17 returned to North- ampton 18th preached in stowe some gladly recd. the word and wished for another appointment. returned to the Ch. at Northampton at evening broke bread to the Ch. laid hands on 3 children, 19 returned to Kirtland 22 removed my family to Menton 25 Lords day met with the Ch. in Kirtland Oct 2 attended meeting in Kirtland preached in Painseville in the afternoon Oct 1st was ordained by the laying on of the hands of Bro Joseph to the order of the high priesthood Oct 12 set out on a mission to the east with Bro Thayer 15th preached in the town of Ripley NV. 16 was day Br. Thayer by mutual consent left me I went to Foresville, went to a meeting of baptists & presbyterians at evening requested and obtained liberty to speak but was stoped in a very few minutes, went to the tavern again and wash -ed my feet as a testimony against the people in the schoolhouse. & by requested made (with an agreement that my tavern bill should be paid) made and appointment for Monday evening 17 preached in the baptist meeting house, many listened with attention. Sold one book of Mormon, here, my bill was paid according to agreement. 18th preached in the town of many listened with attention 19 preached in Perrysbrough congregation ignorant and unbelieving 24 preached in Lockport Lower town, but to none effect bore testimony against them 28 settled some tempory concerns with G. McCollum 29 went to the town of Royalton to see J. Turner an old friend but he would not receive my doctrine therefore bore testimony against him 30th left Lockport for Midd- lebury Newcomb, went to baptist meeting at evening Spake a few workds and was requested to make an appointment which I did & preached on the evening of Nov. 1st Some reviled others fearful & unbelieving bore testimony against them. Went from thence to Warsaw called on Cowdry family found them well & in good faith T town not known found others here of great faith. Went from here to the town of portage, tarried some time, preached in several places in this town and once with some believed believed but were not bapt- ized others believed not but their prejudices were fast giving way went from thence by way of Yates Co to Springfort and Supio in Cayuga Co. preached in a number of places in Cayuga but found them unbelieving, but willing to relinquish a part of their prejudice, but as they need not my doctrine I leave testimony against them. On my return preached in Warsaw and east Bethany. Retur- ned to Mentor Dec. 23d of am. Attended the exposition of Booths letters in Revanna and preached on Lords day evening Jan 22nd on my way to conference peached near Atery attended conference on 25th & on 26 went to Medina 27th preached in the courthouse people hard 29th preached in Dover Cuyoga Co. People not very hard. Feb 3rd evening preached at chagrine people here hard 17th 19 preached in the town of Chagrin but to no effect March 4 Lords day preach- ed to Mayfield Ch.
