Transcript for Moses, Julian, Autobiography, 66

Sept. 20. Left San Pedro for San Bernadino and arrived on the 25th. I staid a few weeks at San Bernadino and started on the 16 of Nov. for great Salt Lake in company with General Rich[,] Amasa Lymanand a number of others[,] about 18 in number, mostlypackers with a good number of mules[.] I rode a mule and packed another. Slept on the ground,we had a pleasant time until we reached IronCounty. We there found considerable snow and coldweather and from that time onward we were overtakenby a number of severe snow storms and cold weather, the snow being so deep in many places as to renderour progress very slow and toilsome.

We arrived at Salt Lake on the 18th [of] Dec., 1852 having been gone from home almost 3 years. I found my wife in good health and spirits and anxiously awaiting myreturn and was welcomed by all friends and acquaintences.
