[This sketch has also been published in volume 3, page 114 of the DUP's Treasures of Pioneer History series.]

After stopping in Florence for two weeks we started our journey across the Plains with "The Rosel Hyde Company".

Being very young I do not remember very much of the hardships met with, but one thing that stands out in my memory is seeing large herds of Buffalo. Also of soldiers stopping to look through our belongings and of my trying to protect my large doll which I had brought from my home in London. I also recall my father and mother discussing experiences which occurred when we reached the Valley.

On arrival in Utah in October we settled in Sugar House.
