OBITUARY

ANNA NASH GIFFORD was the daughter of Azor and Lucy Nash. She was born February 17th, 1800, in the Township of Butternuts, Otsego County, New York. She was the relict of Alpheus Gifford, by whom she was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the fall of 1830, in Tioga County, Penn.; started for the Centre Stake of Zion in the spring of 1832, and landed at Independence in the spring of 1833, from whence she was driven in the fall of the same year, and has been driven in common with the Saints from county to county, and from State to State, suffering all the persectutions that have been imposed upon the Latter-day Saints; landed in Salt Lake City in the fall of 1850; has always been true to the cause of Christ; went to Dixie in 1866, where she remained most of the time until Sept. 5th, 1879, when death relieved her of all earthly sorrows. She dies of old age, being 79 years, 6 months and 18 days old, and in the full hope of a glorious resurrection.
