Transcript for Orrice C. Murdock autobiography and journal, 1858-1914

I started up the co[a]st to the city Motarah and went to woork choping wood throu the winter in the spring of 1848 I went to woork for a man name of McKinyy when I had got ne[a]rly re[a]dy to start home the gold mine was discovered. I started and went to the mines as it was on the way home. I stoped three weeks I then started for Salt Lake[.] we had a schirmish with the Ind[i]ans on the humbol[d]t river[.] we arrived at Salt Lake Oct 6, 1848.
