Transcript for "Pioneer of 1857 Celebrates His 92nd Birthday," Deseret Evening News, 28 Feb. 1914

He worked in Pennsylvania until he came to Utah in 1857. That was the year that Johnston's army crossed the plains, and the company that Andrews was with traveled with it until they reached Fort Bridger. He says they enjoyed the company of the soldiers. On one occasion he saw a soldier with a coil of rope, and upon being asked what it was for the soldier replied that he thought it was to be used in hanging the "Mormons." Whereupon he was told that he better be careful or the "Mormons" might get hold if it and hang him. "Of course," the pioneer explained when he had finished telling me, "I think we were both joking."
