arrived in July, at, or near the place where we quartered for winter and remained untill the Spring of 1848, dureing which time we were engaged in making a fitout for the farther performance of our journey, which I took up with the opening of Spring in company with my family, Brothern and Sisters, travled a distance of 1050 miles, when we arrived in Salt Lake Valley, where there had ben a City—laid out the year previous by a company of Brothern, I am now in the City of the Great Salt Lake Surrounded with my Brotheren and Sisters, with the comforts of life, having escaped from our enemies, for which I rejoice and thank the Lord, who delivered us—Apr. 30th 1851 A.
