Esteemed Brother
The Company of which I have the charge arrived at this place last evening and after consulting with the brethren who reside here, I have deemed it wise to give them a few hours rest, as there are quite a number sick and also to give the cattle a chance to rest and feed before commencing the remainder of our journey which we are told is very rough.
This morning we served out the last of our provisions—to with—One Pound and a Quarter of Flour and One quarter of a pound of bacon per head.
We shall not be able to reach the City before Monday, and quite a number will [be] out of provisions to night as they had to breakfast this morning out of what was served to them. If therefore you could send out some more provisions, it would be a relief and a blessing to us. For what you have already done, please accept our united and hearty thanks and believe me to remain
