President B Young

Beloved Brother,

A few days ago we sent you a letter to the valley and requested you to send out some provisions to meet us.

The bearer of this has stopped his team to give me a chance to drop you a line, please therefore to excuse brevity. Should you not receive the first letter, we hope you will send out to meet us as soon as you receive this sufficient provisions to last us through to Utah. Brot. Murphy Captn. of a team company behind us has loaned us a few hundred lbs for which I am giving him an order on yourself. Please excuse this liberty as I have no permission from you for such liberty—it is the only means available to secure food to prevent 270 people from suffering and want. We will need provisions at the latest one week after leaving 3rd Crossing of Sweet Water. We shall be out of Flour, Meat, Sugar, Soap &c &c Hoping that this will reach you safely as we are convinced if it does our wants will be supplied

We are, with love and esteem

Your Servants in the gospel
