Here (Council Bluffs) they remained until the spring of 1853 when they crossed the Missouri River on the 4 of June with two wagons 5 yoke of cattle 5 Children and Provision to last 18 months. Joined A Company of 75 wagons under John W. Cooley as Captain. This man child is appointed Captain over ten wagons.

On the seventh of June they break Camp & start on their long journey of 1060 miles over a Desert Country: and after passing through all manner of experiences pos[s]ible to imagine: for 110 days they arrive in Salt Lake City on the 17 of Sept 1853.
