We moved to Kirtland Ohio, in Feb. 1836. We were there at the dedication of the Temple. In the spring of 1838 I started with my father’s family to go to Missouri. We got as far as Henry Co. Indiana, where my sister Almira End her husband took sick and died. This detained us until they forbade any more crossing that season and we stopped in Medona Co. That winter several of our acquaintance settled with us. We lived there until the spring of l842 when we moved to Nauvoo and were there through the persecution of the saints.

On the l7th of Aug. we buried my father in Nauvoo. On the 17th of Nov. my mother’s brother Alpheus and my brother Orsey, were crossing the plain between Carthage and Nauvoo and froze to death.

In 1844 we lived about 5 miles from Nauvoo on the Carthage road. On June 27th I saw Joseph and Hyrum pass our place three times. The next time I saw them they were lying in the hall at Joseph's mansion, corpses.

We moved to the city of Nauvoo again and lived there until the saints started on their exodus for the mountains. I was present at the laying of the cornerstone of the foundation of the Nauvoo Temple. I was present at the meeting which was called by Sidney Rigdon for the purpose of choosing a guardian for the church and saw and heard Brigham Young when be arose and spoke to the people. It was a joy to the people to know that he was present and could attend to the affairs of properly.

 We started, and came as far as Council Bluffs with the rest of the saints. We got into the valley on the 12th of Oct. 1848. My brother Oliver was one of the five hundred noble volunteers who went to fight the Mexicans. I was married to Levi Jackman by Heber C. Kimball, Nov. 18, 1849 in the 16th ward in Salt Lake City.
