after that we rode Day an Night in the Cars until we reached the City of Sent Joseph[.] we stayed there over Night[.] we slept all of us in yards close to the Misouri River[.] the company lain upon the floor as thick as we could[.] by the next morning my Self and Harriet went into the City and bought some Whiskey milk an Cheese[.] the same Day the company took steamboat 200 miles up the Misouri River for Whyoming where we reached on the 3 July about 9 Clock on Sunday evening[.] there we met with the ox-teams to convay the company over the plains[.] we pitched our tents on the banks of the River until the morning of 15[.] we then started on our Journey for Great Salt Lake City about 500 of the company with 60 Waggons four yoke of oxen on each Waggons[.] During our trip over the plains we was called upon to part with several of our beloved Brethren and Sisters[.] I helped to Dig some of there Graves and put them in and whilst I was so doing the thoughts ran through my mind and I said to my self this is all right[.] they have been faithful and fullfiled the Lords great command in gathering to this Land and thay will come forth in the resurrection of the Just[.] when we get to A place called hams fork 100 miles from Salt Lake City i met with Brother John Ingram from the Bayby Branch[.] he was the first one i met from
