I Continued in this month out door preaching and clerk till April 1859 When I left my home for Sion [Zion] on the 4th of April of that year and took Sail on board of the William Tapscott for New York was Married by R F Neslon to May [my] Wife Louisa Stankey [Starkey] on Board[.] arrived at Winter quarters in due time and Came over the plains in the hand Cart Company of that year and Suffered Conciderably on the journey for Want of food and a very lame foot in wich my wife Louisa stood and walked by my side all the Way to Salt Lake w[h]ere we arived on Sunday Sept 4th of the Same year[.] was met and Escorted into the City By a great Number of the Saints w[h]ere Received the hospitality of the Saints.
