So in the Spring of 1862 we left Providence for Utah. We come from Providence by R. Road and Steam boat to Florence. Stayed at Florence a few days and was loaded into a wagon drawn by 4 yoke of oxen. The name of the 4 yoke of cattle was as follows: Duke and Dim, Lion and Bay, Speck and Buck, and Balley and Brand. Our captain name was [John R.] Murdock and our Teamster name was John Middleton. We landed in Salt Lake City that fall—don't know the date. . . .
