we wrote to you and John last december[.] I hope you got our letter[.] I sent you word how we got to the valley and that our luggage was left at winter quarters and my brother left[.] we have not heard from him since we left him at Iowa[.] you might to know if we brought the stockings & stars safe[.] we brought them safe to there and left them safe there in our luggage to come through as we only brought 17 pounds each with us[.] I walked all the distance but 250 miles before set foot on a waggon[.] I suppose I walked in all about 1200 miles and arived on the 7 of november[.]
