On the 1
st
 of April [1857], I attended with the brethren at the St. Louis meeting house with the Priesthood and appointed to accompany Bro. Truman O. Angel to Dry hill to preach on the 2
nd
 of April. 
And 3rd we preached at Gravise (Gravois?) and on the 4th I left St. Louis for Lexington to assist in buying the cattle. In 9 weeks I returned to Iowa city to my family again.
On the 17th of July, I left Iowa city in the company of William G. Young for Great Salt Lake city, and arrived on the 25th of September.
