I secured passage in Captain Henry W. Miller's Church train, which left Florence Aug. 8, 1862, with sixty wagons and about six hundred and sixty emigrants, and arrived in Salt Lake City Oct. 17, 1863. In crossing the plains and mountains eighteen of us "inhabited" the same tent and had our baggage hauled by the same wagon, but all able-bodied men and women walked across the plains, though there were four ox-teams to each wagon. On our arrival in the city we encamped on the Eighth Ward square, where the City and County building now stands.
