We left England in 1848 in the ship Swanton. Capt Davenport ownee and Commander Lorenzo Snow had charge of the Saints about 200 of them[.] we came by New Orleans and arrived in Nauvoo on the 12th of April 1848 in the Steamer Ameranth with my wife and 2 Children one of which I buried at Nauvoo when 6 years old. . . .

We had to stay 2 years in Missouri to get a fit out and then we all came to Salt Lake together with Bp Evans Company of 50 Wagons and arrived in Salt Lake City Oct. 14, 1850.
