He was born in London about 78 years ago and left his native land in 1863, crossing the Atlantic, and the Plains the same year in Captain Samuel White's ox train. Mr. White was know as the "Slow Captain," because he took nearly nine weeks to make the trip from Florence to Salt Lake City.
